Introduction

Baylawn Co-operative Preschool has been in operation since 1975. It is a non-profit preschool operated and administered by the parents of children attending the school. Participating parents take turns helping in the school and assist the teachers in the co-ordination of classroom activities. By taking an active part, the parents gain a better understanding of their children's growth and social skills. In turn, the children are encouraged by their parent's involvement in the school.

Staff

Baylawn has two qualified staff. Both staff are members of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).

Philosophy

Baylawn offers a rich and varied program of free and guided play with teachers and parents working together. A safe secure atmosphere provides a place for a child's first step towards independence and the freedom to choose his or her own activities and playmates. Play includes opportunities for emotional, physical social and cognitive growth. While the children are free to pursue the activities they choose themselves, the school day provides one structured period for group learning.
